Teens Paint the Town: A Student Exhibition!

The week of July 13 - 15 2011, twenty area middle and high school-aged students were selected by their art teachers to have the opportunity to attend a FREE 3-day plein aire (outside in the open)  watercolor workshop with award winning artist and teacher Chee Kludt Ricketts hosted by The Arts Center In Orange and funded through a grant from The Virginia Watercolor Society, Creasy Johnson Fund. Students spent time in the classroom outside plein air receiving an introduction to the Art of Watercolor and a brief refresher on the principles of perspective, and composition. They also learned more practical things like: mat cuting, gallery hanging, and lighting. The week concluded with an artists reception and exhibition. The students works were also displayed at the 2012 Virginia Watercolor Business meeting and banquet in Hampton, Va on March 14th 2012.
